I Want One!

Two and a half year old Kohaku was picked up and carried into the room with his mother as she went to see how his Aunt Kagome was doing. The only thing he knew was that Aunt Kagome had been in that room for what seemed to be forever to his little mind and the sounds that had been coming out of it earlier in the day scared him so much that his father had to take him home for awhile.

But, here he was again and this time, going into the room. He clung tightly to his mother's neck and hoped it wouldn't be too scary in there. Earlier, it seemed like even Uncle Inu was scared and that never happened.

In the room, his mother turned him so he could see his Aunt Kagome. "Kohaku, this is Aunt Kagome's and Uncle InuYasha's new baby girl, Nariko. Now you'll have someone to play with."

Little Kohaku wrinkled his nose and stared down at the blanket wrapped bundle in Aunt Kagome's arms. "Why didn't we get one, too?" he asked innocently.

He never understood why his father winked at his mother or why his mother's face suddenly turned bright red.
